Let’s get crafting together! 🛌💌 #PajamaCrafterStamps #StampedbyKelly #HamdmadeCards

Craft Roulette inspired me this week — the challenge was a fun mash-up:
Project: HOLIDAY card
Colors: Forest Colors
Element: Toy(s)
Random: Wonky

I leaned into cozy, rustic holiday vibes and made a wonky, toy-themed holiday card using Pajama Crafter Stamps’ products. I started with a kraft colored card base, layered a white card layer using a smaller stitched panel and 3 separate stitched strips of paper 1 5/8 inch tall with my stitched die and placed them in a wonky format to give the design playful movement. The sketch came from a Pinterest post I loved by Creative Juice by Loni, but I modified it with my stitched dies to add texture and interest, plus I wanted my patterned papers to be more centered and cut them down a bit to approximately 1 5/8 inch x 3 3/4 inch wide.

Design highlights

  • Forest palette: deep pine greens, warm browns, golden yellow sunlight peeking through the trees and berry red accents for a classic holiday feel.
  • Toys element: I used the dinosaur playing drums from Dino-mite Birthday Stamp Set, ornament images from the Weinerful Christmas Stamp Set, pine branch from the Rustic Christmas Owl Stamp Set and the sentiment from the Holly Jolly Christmas Stamp Set.
  • Wonky layout: the tilted stitched panels using 3 different patterned papers from the 6×6 paper pack called WINTER PARADE. plus a slightly askew sentiment strip makes the card feel fun and handmade.
  • Finishing touches: foam tape to pop up focal images, a dusting of white gel pen “snow,” and crystal 3-d glaze and Stickles for some glitz.

Products I used (affiliate link)

  1. Winter Parade 6×6 paper pack
  2. Dino-mite Birthday Stamp Set
  3. Holly Jolly Christmas Stamp Set
  4. Rustic Christmas Owl Stamp Set
  5. Weinerful Christmas

Quick how-to (5 minutes)

  1. Cut card base out of Kraft card stock. 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.
  2. Cut a white cardstock out if a slightly smaller stitched A2 sized stitched rectangle to allow some kraft color base to perk through.
  3. Cut 3 strips of patterned paper from the Christmas Parade Paper Pack at 1 5/8 in x 4 or use a size smaller A2 layering rectangle to add stitches on the edge of slightly smaller stitched panel; adhere each panel a little wonky/askew. See photo.
  4. Stamp the dinosaur playing drums image towards the bottom of a white piece if cardstock measuring 1 3/4 2 in x 3 3/4 in. Color with your favorite medium. I used Olo and Copic together, with some white pencil.
  5. Stamp pine branch on top and select 3 small ornaments and stamp haphazardly under the branch, connecting each ornament to the tree using a straight edge and a black fine liner pen.
  6. Adhere the stamped panel to a piece of kraft cardstock 2×4 inches. using dry adhesive mini tape runner. I used the Tape Runner MINI.
  7. Adhere all pieces except the stamped and colored matted panel using the Tape Runner Mini from http://www.TapeRunner.com. For 10% off use code: KELLY10
  8. Add sentiment, Stickles, crystal effects glaze and white gel pen snow; this allows you to tuck a sparkly accent or two.
  9. Add the stamped panel with double-sided foam tape for added dimension.
  10. I used a dirty ink-blending brush with some leftover Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink from Ranger. It took a little of the brightness out of the stark white panels to give a rustic or dreamy feel. You can simply add a small amount of the ink to a clean brush snd ink blend off most onto a piece of scrap paper and THEN to your project. It’s very subtle.

If you liked this, try the same sketch with different color combos or swap the images for other critters, toys or ornaments. Thanks for stopping by — and if you shop Pajama Crafter Stamps, I’d appreciate you using my affiliate link above!

Crafting with Nostalgia: A Dude Card Inspired by a Classic TV Show 🎨

Craft Roulette Submission featuring Scrappy Boy Stamps

This week’s Craft Roulette challenge has me reminiscing about a timeless TV series that bridges generations. My son enjoys streaming the show now, just as much as I did when it was first run, and I couldn’t help but let that nostalgia inspire my latest card project! If you’re not familiar with Craft Roulette, be sure to check it out for endless inspiration!

Parameters:

  • Project Type: Dude Card
  • Colors: Sunflower Field 🌻
  • Element: Bird or Birds 🐦
  • Random Element: Soot
  • Personal Touch: Products from Scrappy Boy Stamps

With these parameters in mind, I decided to create a fun card that can definitely appeal to the guys in our lives. Here’s how I tackled it:

  1. Dude Card Theme: To keep the card gender-neutral yet engaging, I drew inspiration from the iconic Etch-A-Sketch, a classic toy that ties the card back to the nostalgic theme of the TV show. Boys love toys, right? It’s the perfect motif! Season 3, The Pen. Coincidentally, one if the very few episodes only featuring 2 of the characters.
  2. Soot Element: I incorporated the random element of soot by using Ranger Ink in the color Black Soot. This added a dramatic flair to my design, using a mini-ink blender and focused on edges and highlighting details.
  3. Birds in the Sky: To fulfill the bird element, I etched playful birds in the sky. I created a panel featuring a stunning skyline that reflects the urban setting associated with the show. I impressed the New York Skyline die into the panel and then ink blended the Black Soot into the lines, allowing them to really pop. I connected the lines impressed into the paper, just like they had to connect when using the actual toy.🎉
  4. Sunflower Field Colors: To capture the sunflower field theme, I used vibrant yellow and golden shades throughout the card to create a sunny backdrop featuring some patterned paper from The New Yorkers’ Collection. I also googled the color pallet and included in my images.
  5. Scrappy Boy Stamps: I made sure to incorporate products from Scrappy Boy Stamps to personalize the card further. The details I added really brought the design to life and aligned perfectly with the memories that inspired it.
Etch-A New York Memory

In summary, my completed card features a sky filled with etched birds, a dynamic skyline backdrop in a minimalist design, to emulate the results an Etch-A-Sketch would give. I used Gilded Embossing Powder to embossed my sentiment on the Etch-a-Sketch. The toy is the focal point, on top of splashes of sunflower yellows in the variety of patterned paper in the New Yorkers’ Collection.

Featuring Scrappy Boy Stamps & Dies

The Etch-a-Sketch was made using elements from a variety of dies available at Scrappy Boy Stamps, but you may already have these simple shapes in your collection, including older Scrappy Boy releases.

  • Game Controller Card Die – knobs & arrows
  • Etched A2 Rectangle Card Dies
  • New York Skyline

If Someone Breaks Your Heart…I’ll Nail Gun Theirs

Hey Scrappyboy Fans, have you seen the latest release of the Cute Girls Goth Girl stamp set?! This set is perfect for anyone who loves the darker side of life and wants to add a bit of edge to their paper crafting projects. Inspired by a popular cult classic cartoon turned TV show and dark comedy, this stamp set is the perfect way to pay homage to your favorite anti-hero, while creating a enchanting and unique card.

Image intentionally blurred to prevent digital theft

One theme that we can all relate to is a broken heart. Whether it’s a recent break-up or a lingering heartache, we have all experienced the pain of love lost. This is where the Cute Girls Goth Girl stamp set comes in. With this set, you can create a project that both acknowledges your pain and celebrates your strength. I chose to make a memorydex card. There are several styles of memorydex dies available at Scrappyboy.com. I layered over top of the memorydex card base. I also pulled in some of the coordinating cardstock, too. I stay within a 4 in x 4 in margin so I can use in my carousel style memorydex holder.

Photo blurred to prevent digital theft

To start, choose a dark colored card stock as your base, whether it is a greeting card or a memorydex, as I did here. This can be black, dark purple, or even burgundy. Use the stamp set to create a scene using images from the Cute Girls Goth Girl set and adhere to the center of the memorydex card. I used the older man and woman (couple) and stamped on Hammermill 100# paper with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored up using COPIC markers. For the characters in this set, don’t forget that you can customize their hair, outfits, and accessories to fit whatever scene you want to create. It’s a versatile set and can also be colored up to be bright and glamorous; however, if you are going for a dark theme, don’t forget to accentuate the characters’ eyes with some eyeliner and little dark lipstick to really give your card a gothic vibe.

Now, to address the broken heart theme in my card, I used a sentiment from the set that reads “If someone breaks your heart, I’ll nail gun theirs.” The sentiment perfectly captures the pain of a break-up, while also celebrating the idea of self-care and moving on with the help of loved ones.

Image intentionally blurred to prevent digital theft

Finally, I added some embellishments to the memorydex card to really make it pop and tie things together, by cutting a heart from the Memorydex Essentials Die Set (pictured above) in half and then putting it back together on the dex card. I then added several small silver flat-backed gems on top to emulate nail gun studs. Whatever you choose, make it personal and make it yours. Think outside of the box and mix and match from what you already have in your stash. If you want to purchase coordinating products in this release, there are lots of options.

    6×6 paper pack
    Background Builder Stencil
    Window Stamp (die not available)

The Cute Girls Goth Girl stamp set and coordinating products in this release are fantastic additions to any paper crafting project. It’s perfect for those who love the darker side of life, and want to add a bit of edge to their projects. Whether you’re mourning a broken heart or just looking to create something unique, this stamp set is perfect for you. So go ahead, embrace your inner goth, and head on over to http://www.Scrappyboy.com and check out all of the amazing products Sean has to offer and start creating!

Happy Easter Card featuring Stamp Anniething Classic

Happy Easter card featuring Stamp Anniething classic: For Peeps Sake

Dusting off old stamp sets always brings about a wave of creativity and nostalgia. With Easter fast approaching, I decided to take out an older stamp set from Stamp Anniething called “For Peeps Sake”. This set was released before the immensely popular Chibi line but still has the same cute and fun aesthetic that Stamp Anniething is known for.

I started by stamping the bunny in the grass, bunny holding Easter egg and basket, carrot, egg, flowerpot and chick from the set onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored them in with Copic markers, sticking to a soft pastel color palette to keep with the Easter theme. I also used a white gel pen to add some highlights and details to the images. I fussy cut the images and also removed the flowerpot from the flowers do I could embellish the sentiment a bit by popping flowers and sentiment up with double-sided foam tape.

For Peeps Sake by Stamp Anniething

For the background, I wanted to create a simple and whimsical scene. I used Distress Oxide inks in shades of blue and green to blend a sky and grass background, respectively. I also added some clouds using the clouds builder stencil by incorporating some white pigment ink. I used the grass builder stencil and ink blended in green on the bottom half of the card front. The background panel was cut from specialty paper called GEMINIO PAPER, a glossy paper that is not quite Yupo, but close. It stands up to dome fun ink and watercolor techniques and doesn’t warp or pill.

To finish off the card, I stamped a sentiment from the set onto a strip of extra ink-blended Geminino paper and this will be adhered to the top left hand corner over a banner I made using the carrot stamp and coloring up with my Copics for added interest.

Overall, I had a blast dusting off this old Stamp Anniething set and using it to create a fun Easter card. It just goes to show that sometimes, it’s worth looking back and giving some love to the stamp sets we may have overlooked from the past. Now go find a TREASURE from your stash and share what you make! Happy Crafting!

In case you haven’t heard it today, you are incredible and you matter!
