Chick-Chick Horray – Brutus Monroe Card Project

Chick Chick Horray Set Featuring Aqua Pigments

This card features a 2×3 stamp set that was one of the Stamps of the Month. You can see the entire set below.

Chick Chick Hooray 2x3 stamps
Available at Brutus Monroe for $4.99

I used a stamp positioner and the Wreath Builder Stencil from Gina K Designs to create the wreath with chick images and a smaller heart stamp to create the front of my card panel.

Images stamped on Aqua Pigment Watercolor Paper and Glossy Accents added to hearts for added interest

I used a rainbow pattern of aqua pigments and colored the images as you would watercolor. I used red to color all the hearts. Once dried, I added a small amount of glossy accents to each of the hearts for added shine and dimension.

Aqua Pigments are very versatile and come in a variety of colors.

To finish my card, I matted several layers and heat embossed my sentiment on a circle punch using black glitter card stock for added interest.

Measurement of my finished card is 5.5 in x 5.5 in square.

  • Watercolor panel – 4.25 in x 4.25 in
  • Black Matt – 4 3/8 in x 4 3/8 in
  • Red Matt – 5 in x 5 in
  • Black Matt – 5 3/8 in x 5 3/8 in
  • Red Card Base- 5.5 in x 5.5 in (I glue a piece of lightweight white card stock or copy paper slightly smaller and adhere only at the top so you can write your message easily inside when using darker card bases.
  • Sentiment heat embossed with Alabaster White on black glitter card stock and matted with red to coordinate with the other layers.

Sorry I’m Choco-LATE! Card Project – featuring Kawaii Cuties by Stamp Anniething

This slimline card was extremely fun to make because Kawaii Cuties from Stamp Anniething has so many images included in each set, slimline cards are how you can have enough real estate to hold ALL THIS CUTENESS!!!!!

I find myself wanting to be late sending all my birthday cards this year, because I am absolutely in love with this sentiment! How cute is the sentiment, “sorry, I’m Choco-late!”

To make this slimline card, I used one of StampAnniething’s slimeline dies. This one is a stitched scallop die. Next, I used a combination of distressed inks from my stash to ink blend the background. I used spun sugar, squeezed lemonade, carved pumpkin, and at the very top I used a little bit of barn door to deepen the pink. I flicked some fresh, clean water onto the panel, as it will cause the distressed ink to react, and leave a bleached effect. I then mounted the ink panel onto a piece of card stock in a darker teal, giving approximately a quarter inch larger than the cut panel. The teal piece measures 3.5 x 8.5.

The first quarter release from Kawai Cuties by StampAnniething has some amazing sets. They are very versatile and you can mix and match on all different projects. This particular card uses the stamp set and coordinating dies from: Life is What You Bake It and I Will Never Dessert You.

I used COPIC markers to color my images. The following combinations were used:

  • Banner colors – blue = FB2, FBG2, B01; pink = FRV1, RV14, RV13, RV10; Green – FYG2, G12, YG01; orange =FYR1, YR16, YR00
  • Chocolates -Anything Chocolate – B66,E79, E77, E74, E71 – add highlights with white Posca Pen
  • Pink frostings -RV10, R81,R83, R85
  • Strawberry, Hearts & Red Icings – R21,R24,R29 / G07 (strawberry leaves)
  • Madellines – Y23, YR21, YR23
  • Cinnamon Roll Frosting – E40, E42, E43
  • Jello – Y13, Y15, Y17, yR27, YR16
  • Teal (dish, cake bows, candles, cupcake wrapper) – B01, BG01, BG49
  • Display Case- C6, C4, C2, C0
  • Cheeks on items- R20 and white gel accents

I heat embossed the sentiment using Silver embossing powder on the same colored card stock I matted my base with to keep everything coordinated. To finish off the card, I created a white card-base to adhere my finished panel to. Finished card size is folded, 3.5 x 8.5. The card-base was made with white 110 pound card-stock cut 7 x 8.5, scored at 3.5.

Brutus Monroe Design Team Project

I joined the Brutus Monroe Design Team in 2022 and wanted to share my projects for January 2022. Here is my first project featuring Sweet Candy stamp set and a variety of Brutus Monroe embossing powders.

Sweet Candy Stamp Set featuring Brutus Monroe Embossing Powder

I had a lot of fun creating backgrounds and design elements, including stamping the images on lunch bag card-stock with Brutus Monroe clear embossing ink and embossing them using Brutus Monroe alabaster white embossing powder. I felt this gave the look of royal icing on gingerbread. For a special touch, I ink blended the edges to give it a an oven baked look.

I finished off the card using white embossing powder on black card-stock using a sentiment from the set, “Thank you for being so sweet.”

SCRAPPY BOY STAMPS: DANCE LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING

Sharing a fun project created with Scrappy Boy Stamps’ latest release called Curve Appeal. I decided on trying out a 6×6 square card. I used one of my favorite sentiments from the set, “Dance Like No One Is Watching.”

I wanted to create a Vegas Style Showgirl feel and used a combination of rich reds, black and to make it regal, accented everything in gold mirror paper. Using various dies from my stash, I cut feathers to give some additional visual interest. I also heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder.

Copic Markers were used to color the image in tbe following blends:

Skin- E59, E57, E15, E33, E31

Blush – R22 and R32

Yellows- Y13, Y15, Y17, YR24 and YR27

Reds – R20 R24, R29 and R39

It’s a great set and can’t wait to see what everyone else makes. Make A Splash! featuring Scrappy Boy Stamps

Today is my day to post on the Scrappy Boy Stamps’ Inspiration Page and my card project features one of my favorite mermaid images from the latest Scrappy Boy release, MERMAZING. Mermaids seem to be all the rage lately and this set really lends itself to a variety of different occasions. I know you’re going to love it!

Bust out the following from your supplies, knowing you can substitue any of your supplies for what I have used. I just shared what I used for informational purposes, but it is perfectly okay to use what you have in your personal craft arsenal.

  • White Card Stock for Base – 110 lb Hammermill cut, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4
  • Black Card Stock for Base Panel – 80 lb Cardstock cut, 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.
  • White CardStock for Background Panel for Underwater scene – 110 lb Hammermill cut, 5 1/4 x 4
  • Square piece of patterned paper from the coordinating paper pack, 2 1/2 x 2 1/2
  • Square piece of patterned paper from the coordinating paper pack, 2 1/4 x 2 1/4
  • Black cardstock for sentiment – 80 lb Cardstock cut, 4 1/4 x 1
  • Matte for sentiment strip – Coordinating Colored Cardstock, 4 1/4 x 1 1/4

I used the Under the Sea stencil that was introduced with the release to create the background which is matted with a 1/8 inch border all around with black cardstock. This A2 size card was very fun to make. Using the stencil builder to create the backround was quick and easy. I used a combination of inks in my stash that complimented the colors in the patterned paper from this month’s release, as well.

After ink blending the background, I put through my BigShot with a die plate that makes stitched swirls, for added interest. You could use an embossing or use as is.

Hair on each mermaid used SAME colors, just utilized a micron pen to create the idea of braids/curls on dark-skinned mermaid

I used COPIC markers to color the image.

  • Hair – T9, T7, V17, V15 and V12
  • Dark Skin Combo – E59, E57, E15, E33, R22 and E31
  • Light Skin Combo – E04, E11, E21, E00, R20 and E000
  • Teal Combo – BG18, BG15, BG13, BG11 and BG10
  • Purple Combo – BV04, BV02, BV00, BV000, BV0000
  • Pink Combo – RV17, RV14, RV13, RV11 and RV10
  • White Gel Pen – accents, scales, highlights

Finally, sentiment is embossed with Versamark Ink and silver embossing powder on the strip of black paper.

I used die cuts from my stash to create layers for an underwater scene, as I did not have my hands on the underwater scene builder stencil yet. I also used some coordinating sparkly washi tape to give little pops of color behind the images.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Stay crafty and above all, make sure you have fun!

I’m Back…..

I wanted to let my crafty friends know that absence over the last one-and-a-half months has been due to being overwhelmed with work stuff. As you may not know, my real job is working for a local hospital and the COVID numbers have been increasing over the last several weeks. When our numbers started going down in June, and more people were getting vaccinated, I found myself working more hours to allow my team members to take vacations that they had not been able to plan due to the pandemic. Long work hours and the stress associated with the pandemic, I found I had lost my desire to create, as well as just not being able to find any time in my day to carft or update my blog. I want you all to know that I am okay and trying to make sure I balance my home and worklife to be able to relax more and plan intentional “me” time. I hope you are all doing well and making time for yourself, too. It is so important to our health and well being.

To help catch everyone up, I’ve posted the different cards from Summer With My Gnomies below. These have all be previously shared on various social media sites.
